up a hill without a....

i am amazed.

yesterday i walked to home group, about 3.2 miles or 5.2 km. which included going up lanfear hill.... and didn't stop once on the hill (albeit i paused long enough to stretch my hip that was aching a bit, maybe 20 seconds.... and i paused just long enough to get my phone out of my bag when it rang).

which is amazing considering it's only my second big walk this year.... i'd a thunk i'd be dyin' on the hill!!!!

when i got to home group, deb said i didn't even look tired - i looked 'fresh'! woot!

i felt good too.

need new crocs, they are the best shoe's for walking that i've had (not that i've had many)... and they are relatively cheap.

i'd like to try some vibram 5 fingers tho. :)

(btw, this walk supposedly would have burned me about 675 calories! oh, and it took me 1 hour and 25 minutes.... i got there 4 minutes early!!! lol)

i don't want a repeat of last summer!

i guess i should offer an explanation to my non-existent readers of why i abruptly stopped walking last year.

in the middle of august i wound up in hospital - dehydrated - for 5 days, due to a persistent intestinal infection, and never really recovered.

so i want to take it slower this year... and yet, push myself.

my walk on sunday was a definite PUSH. probably overmuch. but it's now tuesday and i almost feel ready to do another long walk.

but maybe not *that* long! :P

walking day

walked 1.3 miles or 2.1 km on the way to church this morning

then approx (lacking specific twists and turns of the trail and beach) 2.3 miles or 3.7 km around ferry island

then 3 miles or 4.8 kilometers to a friend's house.

for a grand total of approx. 6.6 miles or 10.6 kms.

oh, man.

and then stepping down off my friends porch after a movie, i slightly hyper-extended my left knee. praise God He's in control of all that!!!! :D

starting again

so ok, i'm going to try to start again.

i keep having a yen for long walks.

today i wandered for 2 miles.

i drafted out a rough plan for the year, slowly increasing my mileage by no more than 1-2 miles a week... so i don't overdo it!
